There is no feasible way for us to count the amount of worms that are in each bin, but we weigh out 10 lbs of worms and castings.
The reason we put castings into the worm bin is because they are jam packed with microbes! The microbes are the mighty composters in your bin and kick-start the decomposition.
Worms feed on the microbes, so keeping the castings with the worms, will give them a healthy head start in your bin.
STORAGE BINS HAVE HAD PRIOR USE AND RARELY DO WE USE BRAND NEW STORAGE BINS, FOR THE SAKE OF RECYCLING.
Always ensure the bin stays moist (worms need moisture to survive), fed (the more food you give it, the more the worms will produce), mulch (the worms rely on paper goods & use it as their ‘bedding’). Overfeeding it can cause other critters to get into the bin or can cause it to heat up and gasses to be produced. Underfeeding it might cause the worms to go looking for food and they may exit the bin at the bottom, because there are holes. The holes in the bottom of the bin are there so that any excess (unfavorable) liquids can escape through the bottom (this is called leachate).
If you have any questions or would like to order something specific to your backyard needs that you don’t see listed here in my online store, please e-mail mudderhood.space@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to assist!
This bin can be picked up, only, because it’s too big for us to ship.
